I think it's basically about fighting for what you want. He's asking someone why they just let him/herself be walked all over and letting someone control them. Then on the flip side, he is fighting for what he wants and he won't "let them take". Then time is running out and you can either stay living a life you hate...or fight and run to a life more desirable.
