Does nobody else care that this is the catchiest song about a serial killer ever? One of my favourite Alice songs, I often get it on the brain & start singing "Chop, chop, chop, engine of destruction" in highly inappropriate places. He really is a homicidal genius, look at all the long words - "modus operandi" (that's Latin!), "symbiotic function". I had to look that one up - it's when two organisms have a beneficial mutual dependence. I think he's saying that these women need him as much as he needs them, which is kinda sick when you think about it. On the album it's part of a prolonged psychotic episode & the songs segue into one another, all about murdering women. At the end of the song he makes it clear that in his mind he's killing the same woman over & over - Gail, who is already dead. Did he kill her? Probably. A great song by itself, but even better when listened to with the others as intended.
