It's a song about hope. A new beginning, it isn't great, but we're still alive at the very least.

I really like the quoted lines. I think they mean a lot to the song and to the listener. "We'll build our radioactive castles" Radioactive most likely because of the nuclear war of Total Eclipse. Pretty much everything will become radioactive after the fallout.
Also why castles? Castles were built for communities to live in, under protection. Like a fort. So, if we build these castles, there must be some kind of attack going on. Otherwise we wouldn't need the protection of them.
"Out in the radioactive air" I think that we build them there because we can't inhabit our own world.
