Anyway, what I meant to add on is that my perception of this song is about the ability to accept life's obstacles. And the ability to not only overcome, but to face the heartaches. The umbrella most likely represents some type of protection and it's saying that there's no need to be protected from the "rain" or troubles because it comes and goes. We get passed it and although we may not always enjoy it, we need it in life to fully develop (as a person).
