I think this song is about some one (she) who was a "rebellious Christian' that wasn't being true to God and not true to herself. Searching for something more true in life and someone that would always be there for her rather than merely through faith. Through it all, she is forgiven, by the grace of God, and this was what she is blindly looking for, when He has been with her through it all. This was what she was sure to be true.
The First Two lines kind of show that every born-again Christian (like myself) can relate to, backsliding and falling into sin.
The next lines show that what 'she' has done and who she was is hurting her now and that she is a lonley, tormented soul that was beginning to realize that she finds nothing to comfort and be true to her in this sinful world we live.
She comes to realize in the next lines that she has been searching for someOne that has been with her all along....God.
Then, i might be wrong, but the next lines (starting with ('What Can I Measure') is sort of a calling for us fellow Christians to never ignore someone who is lost and confused in their faith and be a leader/guide/counselor for them as Jesus was for us.
"I was once like her"....very humbling statement that all Christians can relate to.
The last lines are showing God's grace in forgiveness and love....and concludes with her finally realizing it.
I seriously doubt this song is about some guy that accepts her for who she is....but i guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions....even if they are lame....lol
