Meaning #1: disagreeing, especially with a majority
Meaning #2: (of Catholics formerly) refusing to attend services of the Church of England. So it the title means to go against religion mainly Catholicism. "cry ghost and boast of the friend of a friend who saw a strange sight, or heard a strange sound, who now whispers tall tales of murder most foul" i see this as refering to the bible story of how someone knew someone who saw jesus once he was risen(cry ghost and boast of the friend of a friend who saw a strange sight) and once the disciples saw jesus risen they could speak many tongues to preach the word of jesus(or heard a strange sound) and then they spread the word of jesus' crucifixion to others in these tongues.(who now whispers tall tales of murder most foul) just my two cents
