I think this is a really really sad song......in all of it's possible meanings. In my opinion, he's saying that he's feeling like he's not good enough for the girl, he realizes how much he loves her, but feels guilty because he knows he's not the one for her. Like he's being pulled in both directions, he knows it would be best for both of them to be apart, but he wants to be together so bad. Thats my take on it at least, although now I'm thinking that Sestar99 has a really good point.
