I really don't think this is about God. "Like a runaway train, you will consume me, but I can't walk away"? "And then I crashed into you, And I went up in flames. Could've been the death of me" ? I don't see God in there. I see it as finding someone who helped him get out of a really, really bad situation (drug abuse? violence?), and while he resisted the change initially, now he sees that without it, he'd be nowhere.
