i dont think its meant to be taken like a story. they're telling it like a story ut really they're saying lots of little things.
i think its probably actually about writing songs.

then he's describing his daydream. just the randomness of thoughts.
and i like the bit about watermelon smiles. i dunno what the watermelon is for but i thought about smiling when you're crying.
