Ok, I'm going to have to disagree. This song is not about a gambling problem.

It's about someone who's afraid to let people into their life because they're afraid they'll get hurt. So they fill up the holes in they're heart with details i.e. workaholic, and try to define their life with the things they've done instead of the people they know.
More specifically it's about who will not let themself love because their afraid of getting hurt.
