Even if it WAS a word it would be spelled wrong) On that note, I'm thinking this song is about the sole survivor of a horrible war, and he's trying to make his way back to civilization, but he is hindered by his wounds bringing him nearer to death. At the same time, it sounds like a person who is pondering suicide, and someone is trying to tell them how bad death really is. These both make more sense if you can hear the the third line is actually "stay alive". I'm thinking the narrator might be God. Who knows. I'm an incredible dick. Oh yeah, peregrine means "Roving or wandering; migratory." Kind of makes sense with the song and whatnot.
