I think that the song is about a woman try to show to her boyfriend (ex boyfriend) that there's actually more to her than what appears physically. The lyrics suggest that she can identify her own physical imperfections, see verses 2 and 3, but that she is tired with trying to be something that she's not for his favour. There are indications that she was completely and utterly in love with this man and was perhaps blinded by her love, for example
"'Cause I'm glad I found out what you're all about
When I finally fell down off my cloud".
but she seems relieved to find out the truth.
