To me this song is about Loving someone so much it hurts to let them. He knows he has to let her go because they both know they'll never be together again. I can totally relate to this song in every way.. "I've held on for so long now but i had to let you" is saying that he hasnt let her go yet but now he's realizing that he has to move on to be happy again. I feel like this song was just made for me. Im sure a lot of other people feel like this too when they listen to it. Its the perfect break up song... Or moving on song... I miss him.. But just like this song says..
