I love her voice in this song...as for the meaning I think she is asking if we should connect with each other through pain and fighting when we could just respect eachothers' emotions, opinions and thoughts. I mean we live in a world where each individual only cares about himself, his ambitions and dreams, and people are always trying to get what they want first ... if we would only cooperate to achieve combined goals the world would probably be a much pleasant place without so much grief and pain.
