well, I posted the lyrics :) and I found what I thought to be a pretty logical explanation for the song.
I was looking up Secret and Whisper on Wikipedia. I know it's not always the most reliable source, but I can't really see why anyone would lie...I'm posting this just because I think it sounds pretty logical & I agree.
The band told a fan that "Spider Besider" was written about an old Chinese woman by the name of Iachoku that Charles met at an old job. The song is about how ridiculous it is that people have to change so much just to fit in. Iachoku had to change her name to Susan when she moved to North America. The chorus line is "Iachoku, I'm not a sweet as I've led you" which means that even though it seems nice in America "its not always what it's made to be".
