Goshhh this chorus rocks. I like how it starts and ends with the piano. And the a cappella singing at the end. Anyway.
Maybe about a girl who was "cool and confident" in a relationship she was having with a guy until he finally revealed to her that it was all just lies, like in the lines "He paid only just to keep her
Shut up for another day". He didn't really treat her well, but she loved him so much she didn't really care how he treated her, as long as he kept her. Then when they finally broke it off, "all that's left is broken hearts and shattered glass".
And she's really upset, as sung in the lines "Close your eyes, pretend this isn't happening", as she is just trying to wish it all away.
But the singer/narrator wants her to know that although it hurts, "it's worth what makes sense
Are you finally where you need to be" and "Will you find the place you need to be" AKA without this guy who never really loved her anyway.
And then maybe she's finally coming around and the narrator tells her (at the end of the song) that if she had just "listened" to this guy she was with, she would have realized it was never meant to be.
It's kind of an exhausted interpretation, but I think it's pretty accurate...
