This song is about religion, as chris says on an interview on napster.The book is the bible and the first line is about people who use it to try and beat the ideas into you.The song is about everyone interpreting the bible diffrently and using the parts they like "Read it off no need for seperating it, you see what you want and try to justify, all your little lines, convictions, and your lies." The he talks about the people who point him out because he's not perfect "why do you have to point at me?" The chorus is about keeping his relationship with God alive and not breaking down. The original chorus for this song was different and i think it went along better with the meaning "No, I cannot fill the void with what you're shoving on me.
