Says E of this song:

"This was written in the late 1980s when I first moved from Virginia to Los Angeles. I was so lonely and, well... miserable. I lived near the Burbank airport, which I later learned was a neighborhood full of poisoned water from the Lockheed plant. I'd go for runs to burn off nervous energy and one day I was running by this dog laying in his yard. I felt a wave of envy. I wanted his carefree life. I recorded the song on my four track cassette recorder in my closet that night. This version was recorded with Jon Brion several years later in the same Silver Lake house we finished My Beloved Monster in."

Yep, good one Eamon...I could'a quoted E from Useless Trinkets also but that's just lazy.

All I'd say is (regarding song lyrics).... yeah, I would too. and if I couldn't be a dog I'd be a lizard on a rock on a beautiful Spring afternoon! x
