i feel that this song is about someone who really really liked someone a lot.. who held on to something that was really not there (what i believed to be true was only a dream for as long as they could. but they finally realized that this "hell" they are going through is all because the one they care about doesn't have those feelings in return. they eventually let go and find paradise because anywhere was better than where they were before.
they finally come to the conclusion that like that certian individual was their biggest mistake and all they want to do now is leave.
