Yes, I disagree that Conor doesn't do covers justice. This song, along with his cover of Elliott Smith's "The Biggest Lie" are both really good: I think he brings a whole new sort of feel to this song. In particular, I like the lines "And though my heart said, 'Give me refuge in your dignity, my dear' All I could do was put a seashell to your ear" It's kinda that feeling of WANTING to do something for someone, but not being able to. It's a frustrating feeling, but I think he addresses the other aspect to it: the other person knowing you to help sometimes is just as good as actually helping that person.

@taylorsaurus rex I completely agree with you. I like Elliott Smith, but nothing compares to Conor's cover. It's the same deal with M. Ward. This cover is absolutely incredible. The only cover that I believe Conor didn't do a great job of was "Burn Rubber" by Simon Joyner. Simone's version was much better
