Firstly this is a classic Stone Roses song. As for the meaning I think there's a lot of Biblical stuff in there like in other Stone Roses songs. The "He loves his brother he'd sell him for a fistful of gold" kinda reminds me of the story of Joseph and the Technicoloured Dreamcoat though though, haha.
