I love this song, I think it's talking about how a person cares so much about someone else that they would do anything for them. Like lend them and ear. And that person abuses that privlidge and doesn't give anything back. And how everyone else thinks that the person is being nice to everyone and always offering their shoulder, but not really meaning it.
