I get the feel of a life coming to an end: "I have burned my tomorrow" as in I won't live to see tomorrow. "And my dreams all fade away,"
"Fate's my destroyer" all led me to believe that.
As common as the phrase "edge of the future" I still don't get it. But because there's a line saying "I stand inside today," I am picturing a metaphor of life and time as a some kind of bowl or something.
The second half of the song was leaning towards love or some relationship. Perhaps, he/she came to the sad state they in because a loved one left them.
