It's obviously about the music industry:

"Do you remember when the only thing that mattered was, taking Time for the things you love? But now you got to humor, all these fools."

In the beginning a career as a musician is about writing and making music because you love it and you write and sing about what is important to you. But now that they're bigger they are creating music for their fans and consumers and having to please them. It's more about business instead of about passion, just like prostitution. For a prostitute sex isn't about love it's about working and making money.

"Go on believe, if it turns you on. Take what you need 'til your body is numb. Prostitution, is revolution. You can hate me, after you pay me. My submission, is your addiction. So just get out while you can"

He's saying, buy their cds, pay for tickets to their shows, it doesn't really matter what you think of a band personally as long as your buying their merch and music and tickets. Just like a prostitute, they don't really care what their customer thinks of them as long as they pay them for the sex.
