Personally, Horses In The Sky is the best album of ASMZ, but all the others come very close. Mountains Made Of Steam and God Bless Our Dead Marines are the most awesome songs ever... They really hit you emotionally, especially when you are able to sense the passion Efrim puts into these songs; and when the choirs sing at the end of God Bless Our Dead Marines. That's just amazing.
Just wanted to share this with you guys.
Now, when I first heard this song, and in particular the sentence 'Somewhere there's a soldier | Sleeping in a field', I thought this was a reference to Le Dormeur Du Val (The Sleeper in the Valley) by Arthur Rimbaud.
Anyone of you had the same thing/can justify this?
A small green valley where a slow stream runs
And leaves long strands of silver on the bright
Grass; from the mountaintop stream the sun's
Rays; they fill the hollow full of light.

A soldier, very young, lies open-mouthed,
A pillow made of ferns beneath his head,
Asleep; stretched in the heavy undergrowth,
Pale in his warm, green, sun-soaked bed.

His feet among the flowers, he sleeps. His smile
Is like an infant's - gentle, without guile.
Ah, Nature, keep him warm; he may catch cold.

The humming insects don't disturb his rest;
He sleeps in sunlight, one hand on his breast,
At peace. In his side there are two red holes.
i probably could have found that online, but i felt it right to type it from my Rimbaud book. thank you for pointing that out, i knew these lyrics reminded me of something but i couldn't think of it.
