I would like to change the lyrics for the purpose of my own personal interpretation of the music, however, i will address this change as i come across it

As the times change, people change
i think the lyrics sound more like:
"is who we are now who we are?
where does time go..."
that way he's saying:
'who we are right now--does that define who we are as an identity?'
because back in high school we were different
did we still hold the same identity?
we seem like completely different people now...

that is the deep meaning this song places on my heart.
