To me this song is about growing up, but not wanting to fall into the rhythm of life all the adults are accustomed to. The daily grind. Like children hiding behind drapes at an adult dinner party because they're in their own little world separate from everything. And as they grow up they're being hurdled towards this expectation to mature and enter society and they're looking for some kind of sign to guide them and free them from their unwanted destinies.
