I think this might be about touring (or a guy that is often away from home and his girlfriend for other reasons.)
They've been drifting apart, what with him travelling the world and not seeing her for months at a time, and they don't really know each other anymore.
He might not know or care where he's heading next, but he knows where he's going when he's coming back home to her. Only that she can't deal with the fact that he's never around, and he knows that she's going to leave him, and therefore begs her not to, saying this is not the end and they can make it.
But yeah, I don't know. I might be completely wrong.
