This is obviously wrong, but I can interpret it as a two-sided song about being cheated on and left. "Apologies of past" being the cheater apologizing for their wrong. The chorus, from the point of view of the other half - feeling as if life is over and not worth living.

Never knowing that they had cheated would be horrible. Reminders of a friend implying that they don't talk anymore.
