I thought it sounded as though she's been friends with this boy for a long time and she has had a crush on him. Then they kissed ("Are you too nervous to be lovers, Friendship's ruined with just one kiss?") but he got nervous and backed off. She still likes him and wishes they could at least be friends, but she scared him off.
