The poison is that taste, and once people get a taste for that power, it corrupts. The little red book is a refernce to Red Book of Mao's Communist regiem as stated by steinbeckthepearl. THerefore, everyone is dancing to the words of the ruler. The ruler who is atop the pyramid, and will be taken down eventually. The whole system will crumble due to individual accountability. Again, "similar to down is the new up".
