I'm 99.99999999% sure the vocals are Jeff due to the accent, Jackie. He's singing in a lower registry and singing more delicately but the early songs (all of the demo tracks, atleast) seem to have been a lot more melodic than "Aeroplane." Then, even "On Avery Island" was much more mellow than "Aeroplane"s manic, loquacious brilliance. .
Either way, this song is very surprising and beautiful. I think the themes are more self-explanatory than are the themes in the majority of his songs. To me, it hearkens to disenchantment and recognition of the ephemeral nature of relationships.
