After a heated discussion with my mate's wife one night trying to defend the meaning of these lyrics against the claim of 'lofty middle age' arrogance', it occurred to me that Gordie is actually defending the new generation...
In fact could he be suggesting that in the generation of political smokescreens and barefaced self serving lies that seems to be disseminated by our corrupt governments, and businessmen, that if you only hear 'half the truth', then our 'kids don't get it'
