I think this song is about God's promise to Abraham (Gen 15:5) while Abraham's wife Sarah was still infertile:
He took him outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be."
Of course, until the birthday of Isaac, I'm sure Abraham had his doubts.
