i believe that it's like this:
she had a summer romance with a boy that was just amazing.
everyone loved him. but at the end of the summer, he ended it, most likely because he moved.
they stayed good friends for a long time; they grew apart, and almost lost feelings for eachother.
than she saw him over christmas break.
and i think that her feelings came back, but his didn't.
some more time passes, and she realizes that she doesn't need him, but she still thinks that she was the one for him.
