I think it's about a couple going camping. They stay up gazing at the stars. Then the stars disappear in the cold light of morning. But then they watch the sun rise. Before they finally sleep that night they bid goodnight to the stars [the cosmic universe/God?] and think of the people before them [angels, or perhaps other campers]. The song is also cyclical, "watch the stars descend"......... It's a song brimming with hope, love, wonder and beauty. I think this song is truly Stars' signature song.
