This song is about a relationship that could never be..whether its because hes with someone else or visa versa, it was hopeless from the start. All of the other ways he could have approached this person/situation would have ended in the same conclusion anyway. No ones wins, no one loses..as he conveys when he keeps switching who wins and loses in this situation. How could it be any other way?
