Ok so I dont want to sound all pesimistic or anything but when I read through the lyrics to this song I thought how ironic it would be if this song actually had a really sad message.
I so far put together this possibility which seems to hold some weight. The first part about "light and day is more than you'll say" and his feelings are more than this other persons, suggested to me only one thing. He is in love with this person but these feelings are not being reflected by the other party who barely speaks to him.
"You don’t see me fly into the red - one more you’re done " I thought maybe suggested suicidal thoughts as his love doesnt notice him and if it happens again then flying into the red could represent blood and cuttings maybe.
and finally "You don’t see me fly into the red - one more you’re nuts
Just follow the day
Follow the day and reach for the SUN!" Could possibly be suggesting his thoughts are that this other person doesnt love him so they're nuts and now hes taking his life in the hope that he will go to Heaven where things maybe better!!!???
Maybe I'm the one who is nuts. But still, wouldn't it be cool if a Polyphonic Spree song was secretly really sad and depressing? I doubt it though as I also noticed that if you bring down the lines "-One more your nuts/done" then the first letter from each line backwards in that section would spell "Joy" over and over again! Still I Tried.
I actually think this comment has a lot of value. The whole band was actually formed out of the sudden death of the guitar player from Tripping Daisy, and while the Spree are mostly all about positive thoughts, death weighs heavy on their material.

"'We wanted to capture a whole lotta light and a whole lotta dark on the same page," says Julie Doyle, one of the group's principal songwriters. We really hit the nail on the head this time; this is the Spree at its finest."

Group leader Tim DeLaughter formed The Polyphonic Spree in 2000...
Group leader Tim DeLaughter formed The Polyphonic Spree in 2000 following the breakup of his previous group, Tripping Daisy. That band's run as one of the '90s more popular alt pop groups ended abruptly when its guitarist, Wes Berggren died of a drug overdose in 1999. DeLaughter formed the Polyphonic Spree partly as a reaction to Berggren's death, in his search for light in the darkness."
