well at first i thought this was another pigeon detectives song about bickering between a 'sort of' couple. i thought it was about how the girl really got on his nerves but she was his sorta booty call, and he'd prefer it if she just wouldnt speak. but then i really thought it could have been something more as the chorus seems to be much more emotional.
it could be that shes cheated on him and he still finds it hard to listen to her, and deal with her but he obviously doesnt want to end it. 'better not get in my way', seems like he needs time. but he 'needs her', he couldnt take anymore without her but he cant seem to be with her, a horrible limbo.
