I love the lines, "Oh Julie, you know that I ain't for hire, but you can have me". It just sums up to me how proud and independent we normally are, and then we're just crumbled to our knees by one person, and we don't care what becomes of us.

I tend to read this song as tragic, though - I always feel like this relationship turned out badly, and this is him writing about his abject failure afterward.
