I always took this as a song aimed at people who question/argue/ridicule vegetarians/vegans for living this lifestyle. Even while these people might share the same views about everything else. I'm a vegetarian, and I can relate to this song, because almost every meat eating person immediately questions motives, or scoffs upon being informed about vegetarianism.
@DroppedMidget It's good, I see the relation between everything I hate and factory farms...yet, I only reduced meat intake in my life after leaving the old folks, can't remove it entirely, I have meat about 10 days a month (and just that is giving a lot less of money into the system and better for your health).
