Cover art for Ablutions lyrics by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

At first it sounds like longing for the presence of a lover and / or caretaker, and when the male voice comes in, the tone shifts to sorrowful contempt, screaming for the second person to understand the insomnia and pain his or her absence causes. I think the conclusion ["Won't you leave for good?"] indicates that the ablution has finally taken affect, and the clutches on the narrator has been released. Perhaps the everpopular subject of sexual abuse either in the family or church, where religion is used as a catalyst as well as a sustainer for foul play?

"She folds her arms up nicely lays them down upon the table wipes her mouth off as she tries to find another word for love."

Says it all.
