I'm pretty sure this is the nativity, and not quite what you said, katievanish.
Mary's explaining to Joseph who the father of her baby is.
The scene - "Protruding middle (pregnant, Jesus is still inside) she sat unashamed
She read his judgment on his concerned face"
Joseph is suspicious of the father (they've probably never had sex before, like the real nativity, so he knows it's not his).
"With slight sarcasm he addressed her case
Is it too much to ask to know about your lover's name? " - I can imagine him asking, as he sucks on a cigarette; "So ... (puff) ... who's the father, eh?"
The rest of the song, save the last line is Mary's reply - "But his eyes won't be almond like yours nor blue like mine
With all the sins of the world in the iris" First clue - It's Jesus. He's neither hers nor his.
"But you will love him
He's from Gold Gardens (WTF? It's heaven, but I've never heard it put that way. Sounds like a retirement village).
Our help before Atlas was ever born, alright." Joseph must love Jesus, because he is the Messiah, destined to come into the world before the the world existed.
Meg&Dia rock.
Also, buy the Santa Cause albums. The songs are all top-notch. And some of the money goes to charity.
