I agree with the marriage theory, in a way. I think it's about a couple, who should've been getting married. But they realised that their relationship wasn't right, they weren't meant to be together, so they broke up. He still misses her though, still cares for her, but knows it's over. He still prays that it might change betweeen them. Instead of saying I do at the alter, he's now having to say it in a different context.
