I just saw the film I Am Legend and obviously noticed many differences between the book and the film...As i was listening to this song and thinking back on the book I realized this song is about the relationship between Ruth and Robert Neville in the book.
The main lyric that made me think this was "In notes of the cruel. And lying is like murder..." When Ruth runs away from Neville in the morning, she leaves a not about the lies she made because she wasn't an actual human. Therefore, her lies translate to Nevilles murder at the hands of the Vampires.
If I'm right....it just makes me think of how much more badass Joey Cape is.
