Whenever I hear this song, I always picture the Sea King as a sort of 1950s surfer bum that's the Big Kahuna of his circle. He's so caught up in being King of the Sea and his little accomplishments that he never does much else.
I think the singer is someone who truly loves him but can't stand being a vagrant anymore, wanting a real life and real love. So she leaves the ocean scene, hoping one day he'll realize she's gone and leave to look for her (and find reality along the way).
