i'm suprised no one's commented on this song! i love it, i think it's so beautiful in a very blunt, everyday sort of way...(haha)
when i first heard it, i didn't really like it, as the usual beloved song about wanting to "make love" is very metaphorical; just take savage garden's "truly madly deeply" for example. but this song says the exact same thing except in a very everyday, relatable fashion, which is very abnormal and difficult to pull off without sounding like a desperate fool, and marc does it perfectly. :)
the line "i don't want to go up to the mountain, i don't need to go down to the sea" is so priceless. knowing and loving the savage garden song as well as i do, i saw it as the perfect jab at all of those flowery love songs, and grinned when i first heard it. i have since then grown to love this song for its simple beauty.
marc cohn is an incredible singer and songwriter. can't wait for him to play in my area.
