Adding to PsicoFreak667, Kenneth Anger was widely known for being really into the supernatural/Aleister Crowley/Church of Satan, and one of his most famous films was called Scorpio Rising (he made another called Lucifer Rising which I think he worked with Jimmy Page on, who was also really into Crowley).
Anger's also well known for writing "Hollywood Babylon," which was about Hollywood scandal & corruption and was really well known in his films for poking fun at popular culture with tons of camp. But I'm guessing the Anger reference probably has more to do with Scorpio/Lucifer Rising.
