it took me a long to get into Pavement. So far, the only albums I've heard completely are Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Wowee Zowee. Two completely different albums. Crooked Rain was easy to love, Wowee Zowee...not so much. After countless listens, I found myself only replaying certain songs. Rattled by the Rush and AT&T were the only songs I played for months. After awhile though I ventured to the other songs and found that this was one of first ones to catch my ear. this song is just so different.
from the way malkmus sings the first two lines to the chanting of "We got the money"
to me, this song was recorded in a frenzy. which is the way anybody feels when they first have a lot of money. like ooh, what will i buy first? it's one of the only things we as humans have power over. what we get to do with our evil money. this is definitely one of my favorite pavement songs though, quite the contrary to what the last user posted about this song.
