Ha, a friend of mine who turned me onto VU used to laugh at me for listening to metal when I was younger, calling it 'men masturbating with guitars'.
He stopped after I reminded him of this song. Great one though. Apparently the 'explosion' is John Cale hitting a stack of plates with a chair.
